Sometimes everyone needs to take a break from complicated, immersive games which are becoming more and more popular on Android, and simply enjoy a simple farming simulator. That would describe Hay Day, a free-to-play game for Android.
The game starts off with a small farm with only a patch of land and a nice, helpful scarecrow to guide you through the tough start. After planting some seeds, buying and feeding some chickens, and producing your first bread, you continue on your own to grow your business, earn coins, and expand your farm.
The game unlocks various different structures, plants to grow and animals to keep on your farm as you level up. Customers will come by and ask if you have something to sell them. You can also make deliveries in order to make money. Your farm can be expanded by cutting down the trees surrounding you. Here you can place more structures or animals.
Performing various actions in Hay Day is quite satisfactory, such as moving the scythe to harvest plants, moving the bag of seeds above chickens to feed them, and watching your bakeries produce bread. The game is well-designed and it looks smooth with its cartoonish graphics.
However, chickens take 20 minutes to lay an egg, bread takes five minutes to make, etc. Of course, it can be sped up using the in-game diamonds which can be purchased for real money. It's freemium at its finest, so this definitely can't be the game to focus on or the game you can simply pick up and play for hours!
